*Wednesday, February 29, 2012 Wine Tasting
We will have a cultural exhibit of various artists from the Portuguese community. Also at the event will be various wines from Portugal. The event will begin at 7PM at the Arches Hall, at Our Lady of Fatima Parish, located at 953 Bond Street., Elizabeth, NJ.
*Sunday, April 1, 2012 Rainha Pageant
A pageant to choose the Rainha/rei, Princesa/Principe and Princesinha/Principezinho to represent the community during the Portugal Day Parade. The pageant will include traditional regional attire and formal evening wear. The pageant will begin at 2:00PM at the Portuguese Instructive Social Club at 409 U.S. Highway 1&9 S., Elizabeth, NJ.
*Friday, April 15, 2012 Miniature Golf Tournament
An event for the entire family. Miniature golf will begin at 7PM at Hyatt Hills Golf Course, 1300 Raritan Road, Clark, NJ.
*Saturday, May 14, 2012 Fishing Derby
Beginning at 9:00AM there will be a childrens fishing contest and family picnic day at Warinanco Park. Picnic tables and barbeque grills will be available. Bait and fishing poles will be provided for the children entering the fishing contest while supplies last.
*Sunday, May 22, 2012 Bike Tour of Elizabeth
Registration will begin at 7:30AM. The tour will begin at Union Square Plaza on Elizabeth Ave. A 15 mile bike tour of the City of Elizabeth including historic sites.
*Monday, May 23, 2012 Golf Tournament
Beginning at 11:00AM we will have a registration and brunch. We will then proceed to the starting of our golf tournament. Beverages will be provided throughout tournament. Once the tournament is over we will serve dinner and hand out trophies along with prizes to participants. The golf tournament will be held at Concordia Golf Club, 3 Clubhouse Drive, Monroe Twp, NJ.

*Friday, June 1, 2012 Flag Raising at City Hall/Community Exhibition
Beginning at 7:00PM the Portuguese Flag will be raised at City Hall and displayed until June 10th. Then, all attending will enter the City Council Chambers where a City Proclamation will be issued by the Mayor and other city officials declaring Portugal Week in Elizabeth. Immediately following, a cultural exhibition will begin at the Portugal Instructive Social Club located at 409 U.S. Highway 1&9 S., Elizabeth, NJ.
*Sunday, June 3, 2012 Portugal Day Parade
in keeping with tradition, the parade will depart at 2:00PM from Union Square Plaza on Elizabeth Avenue, proceed on Elizabeth Avenue to South Broad Street and then onto Grove Street concluding at the Portuguese Instructive Social Club with an official Portugal Day Celebration. |
